なくてはならない名脇役。路面電車が走る地域にお住まいの方にとっては見慣れた黄色い信号機。路面電車を安全に走らせる上でなくてはならないものです。熊本市電でも数多くの黄色い信号機が電車の安全な運行を見守っています。種類は古いものから新しいものまで様々。新町交差点の信号機はかなり古いもののようです。一番新しいのは熊本駅前〜田崎橋の芝生軌道区間に設置された信号機でしょうか。こちらに設置されているのはLEDの信号機です。最近では路面電車優先システムなるものも出てきました。バスなどで運用されているPTPS（公共車両優先システム）を活用し、電車が接近すると交通管制センターにて電車の進行信号を延長したり、停止信号を短くしたりするシステムです。日本ではレトロなイメージが強い路面電車ですが、それを取り巻く環境も時代とともに進化を遂げています。10年ほど前にはGPSを活用した走行試験も行われました。長らく乗客が減っていた市電ですが、新幹線開業や全国共通で使える交通系ICカードの導入により乗客も右肩上がり。積み残しも増えているんだとか。これからも輸送力増強とともに、安全快適な運行を追求して頂きたいものです。ネットサーフィンをしていると信号を専門に取り扱っているサイトも見かけます。信号機も奥が深そうです。信号横にある建物は長崎次郎書店。明治7年開業で140年の歴史があります。今年再開店しました。本を楽しみつつトレインビューも出来そうです。Respectable supporting player.Signal yellow commonplace in city tram runs.Equipment for running safely tram.Tram dedicated signal machine there are many also Kumamoto.New ones from the old to a lot.Signal of Shinmachi intersection old.Signal that has been installed in the lawn orbit Tasakibashi of the end point from the front of the JR Kumamoto Station is a the latest model.
